What Drives Performance in HPC? That's a good question. What does drive performance in HPC? On a qualitative basis its easy to answer. A faster processor and memory. More memory. A better network or disk I/O subsystem. Unfortunately, those answers are rarely specific enough when faced with purchase decisions for a Linux cluster. This article is designed to support and expand on the What Drives Performance in HPC? Webinar presented in June 2007, which outlined a quantitative approach to performance.
